BMPN is a social group for people in the Baltimore area who are polyamorous or curious about polyamory; and for their partners and friends, whether polyamorous or not. It is a safe venue where people can meet and speak freely with others with a similar approach to living and loving. It is not a “meat market”, though it is an excellent way to meet like-minded people.
BMPN started as a Yahoo group (>900 members), and now has spread into other like-minded groups on meetup.com and now Fetlife. Events are cross-posted because polyamory is of interest to numerous circles <smile>.
Polyamory emphasizes emotional connectedness, with sex permitted (openly and honestly), if desired, as an expression of the emotional caring. Polyamory is not the same as swinging (which in its purest form focuses on sexual expression more so than on emotional intimacy. Note that polyamory and swinging dance along the same spectrum: there are poly folk who swing and swingers who are polyamorous.
We offer a variety of in-person activities, such as restaurant get-togethers, book discussions, beer tasting, or whatever events members would like to hold for other members. We also provide online email discussions of polyamory-related topics as well as event announcements.
Rules:
We are open to singles, couples, and those living in larger primary families (triads, quads, etc.). You are welcome regardless of ethnicity, sexual orientation, age (as long as you’re at least 18), physical condition, or other identities.
Respect is a key attribute to forums, events, discussions, etc. Polyamory by its nature is multicultural, in background, interests, exposures and goals. Some poly folk are kinky, some are not. We ask that people not assume that because another person is in attendance that it also means that the person “must” be into ____ . It is ok to ask first :).
